His first solution does not work; he forgot that silence does not pass through question wraps. His second solution with self referential questions is valid.

“Would you answer ‘da’ to the question Q” type question wrapping does not pass on the silence.

If Q’s correct answer is ‘yes’, then both True and False would say ‘da’;

If Q’s correct answer is ‘no’, then both True and False would say ‘ja’;

Most importantly, If Q’s correct answer is silence, then True would say the equivalent of ‘no’, and False would say the equivalent of ‘yes’.
